Corporates Will Adopt Eight Tourist Spots in Karnataka

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Venkatappa Art Gallery and Halebid and Bellur are among the 8 tourist spots that will be adopted by corporates in Karnataka. The private firms will develop roads, toilets, install drinking water kiosks and maintain cleanliness.

Monarchy and Democracy go hand in Britain as Queen Elizabeth along with thousands of others gathered at Runnymade on Monday to celebrated the creation of the historical document that laid the foundations of parliamentary democracy and supremacy of law in Britain.

102 Year Old Madhavan Nair Feeds Over 1500 Everyday


At 102, Madhavan Nair begins his at 3.30 am, and his Sakthi Vilasam eatery at Edathara, near Palakkad, Kerala,  feeds more than 1500 people daily. The food is a mix of Thanjavur and Kerala culinary styles. Mr Nair reads two Malayalam papers every day without spectacles and gives his customers exact change! The people of Edathara will organize a community feast next month to celebrate his birthday. What a wonderful community person Madhavan Nair is!

Saving the Girl Child through 'Selfie with Daughter' Contest

The Bibipur panchayat in Jind district (Haryana), with a skewed sex-ratio, has launched a contest 'Selfie with Daughter' to encourage focusing girls in families, who often come last in terms of aspirations, nutrition and education.

IIT-Bombay Students Showcase Innovative Designs




Today's Hindu reports in "Ideas That Make Life Easy, on Show at IIT-Bombay" about a five-day show at the IIT-Bombay's Industrial Design Centre by 56 students that includes projects ranging from a portable flood-rescue boat to low-cost vein detector and an animated dictionary for dyslexic children.
